I’m Crystal Merritt—a certified educator, reading interventionist, homeschool mom, and the founder of Laws of Learning.
After more than a decade in education, I wanted to create the kind of learning environment I knew young children deserved: one where strong academic foundations didn’t require giving up play, movement, creativity, or childhood.
My approach brings together my background in special education and literacy with what I’ve learned raising and homeschooling my own children. Around our table, children are invited to ask questions, make things, get messy, revisit ideas, practice new skills, and discover just how capable they are. We aren’t trying to recreate school at home—we’re creating meaningful places for children to play, learn, connect, and grow into confident learners.

What we run
Every group meets weekly. Children move up when they’re ready, not on their birthday.
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Our signature small-group program for young homeschoolers, Seedlings, Sprouts, and Blossoms, weaving together literacy, project-based math and science, creative exploration, and connection through one big idea each month.

24 printable journal pages — one per week, autumn through winter. Ruled observation boxes, label lines, and a simple key.
Hand-assembled: a stitched notebook, hand lens, collecting tin, and three pencils sharpened properly. Made up in small batches.
