A note from Crystal

I’m Crystal Merritt—a certified educator, reading interventionist, homeschool mom, and the founder of Laws of Learning.

After more than a decade in education, I wanted to create the kind of learning environment I knew young children deserved: one where strong academic foundations didn’t require giving up play, movement, creativity, or childhood.

My approach brings together my background in special education and literacy with what I’ve learned raising and homeschooling my own children. Around our table, children are invited to ask questions, make things, get messy, revisit ideas, practice new skills, and discover just how capable they are. We aren’t trying to recreate school at home—we’re creating meaningful places for children to play, learn, connect, and grow into confident learners.

What we run

About our Programs

Our homeschool enrichment programs combine meaningful academics with the kind of hands-on experiences young children naturally learn from. Rather than moving through disconnected worksheets and lessons, each month begins with a big idea. We explore it through literature, literacy, math, science, art, sensory play, nature, movement, and collaborative projects. Different ages may approach the same idea in different ways because children don't need identical work to learn together.

Homeschool Enrichment Community Membership FALL

Perfect for families looking for a consistent homeschool community where children can learn, play, create, and build friendships together. Our Tuesday & Thursday Homeschool Enrichment Program combines purposeful play with literacy, early mathematics, science, creative exploration, and hands-on projects. Small groups allow children to learn alongside peers while being supported at their individual developmental level.

Following the Monarchs: 3-Week Nature Study | Ages 4–7

Follow the monarchs on one of nature’s most extraordinary journeys! During this three-week outdoor Nature Study, young naturalists will explore monarch butterflies, the habitats they depend on, and their incredible fall migration through Florida and along the Gulf Coast. Through stories, hands-on investigations, sensory exploration, nature journaling, and process art, we’ll discover how something as small as a butterfly can travel so far—and what we can do to help protect them along the way.

Wonders & Foundations: The World That Feeds Me (On the Farm)

Where does our food come from—and who helps it get to our table? The World That Feeds Me invites young learners to explore life on the farm through play, stories, sensory experiences, art, nature, and hands-on discovery. Children follow food from farm to table, discover how farm animals help feed and support us, and explore the people, tools, and daily work that keep a farm growing. Designed for ages 2–7, activities include simple differentiation for Seedlings, Sprouts, and Blossoms, allowing siblings and multi-age learners to explore the same big ideas at their own developmental level.

Wonders & Foundations: The World Within Me (All About Me)

Who am I, and what makes me wonderfully me? The World Within Me invites young learners to discover themselves through a month of playful, meaningful exploration. Children investigate their names, senses, bodies, and feelings while building confidence, curiosity, self-awareness, and strong academic foundations along the way.
